Podium at Formula Hybrid 2012

UPC ecoRacing is pleased to announce we reached the third position in the Formula Hybrid 2012 that took place last week at the North American circuit of New Hampshire. Of this important milestone we would like to highlight the fact that we reached the Design Finals of this international competition and that we achieved 99 out of 100 possible points in the Business Plan Presentation.
This result encourages us to continue working and plan future projects with optimism.
This would not have been possible without the contribution to the project of all our sponsors and so the whole UPC ecoRacing team wants to thank once again their collaboration and dedicate this result to them.

The hybrid racing car from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia will take part in the world engineering competition held in Boston from April 30th to May 3rd.
Second position at Formula Student Spain
On October the second, the Ecoracing Technology Research Association, formed by students of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and their competition hybrid car, the ecoR2, claimed runners-up Spain Formula Student held at the Circuit de Catalunya. In this event, organized by the STA, the ecoR2 was the only hybrid car and faced 23 European universities cars getting a spectacular second position. The team achieved this amazing second position by obtaining outstanding results in all tests of the competition, both static and dynamic events, and only the Zurich team and its impressive budget beat the ecoR2.
This feat is even more important if one considers that in the overall standings, the hybrid car of UPC ecoRacing finished ahead 9 combustion cars. With this result, added to the second position obtained in the Formula Student Electric and Hybrid Italy last year, ecoRacing outstands as the most successful Formula Student project of Spain so far.
The ecoR2 is the first racing hybrid car developed in Spain. The new version with last generation lithium batteries and regenerative braking can be recharged with any electric outlet and has important technological developments. Among others, the driver can vary different parameters of the powertrain from the steeringwheel and choose the operating mode: electric zero emission, combustion or parallel hybrid. Some of the UPC ecoRacing sponsors and project partners are: Unnim Obra Social, the city Council of Terrassa, Ascamm, Derbi and CTM.
