UPC ecoRacing, at Montmeló with the first electric car with total traction of Spain
The ecoRX passed easily the demanding technical inspections and participated in all the tests of the Formula Student Spain 2018.
UPC ecoRacing premiered the ecoRX in the Formula Student Spain 2018 held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, together with the best electrical and combustion vehicles from universities around the world. The challenge was to be able to run in all the dynamic events with an electric vehicle never seen before in Spain, and ensure a base for the upcoming seasons.
It was the first time that the ecoRX was seen in public after its presentation to the press and sponsors in June, where the innovative technical characteristics of the new prototype were presented. Apart from incorporating the first monocoque of the team's 10-year history, the addition of an electric motor to each wheel was a technological challenge never faced by any other team or company in Spain. This novelty has numerous applications in the general automotive sector, among which stands out a better recovery of energy, increasing the reach of electric cars.
The implementation of these technologies was a challenge that UPC ecoRacing managed to overcome, after passing rigorous technical inspections that confirm ecoRX's safety and optimal design for the competition.
Finally, the ecoRX was able to run all the dynamic events of the competition, ensuring the operation of the four wheel drive traction provided by the four electric motors. Once the tenth anniversary season is over, UPC ecoRacing begins preparing for the next season in which it will participate in numerous competitions throughout Europe with the next evolution of the ecoRX.
