Formula Student

Formula Student

World biggest motorsport competition for engineering students

Competition

Formula Student, also known as SAE Formula Student, is an international engineering competition in which university students design, build and race single-seat Formula-style racing cars. The competition originated in the United States in 1981, but has gained global popularity, with events held in various countries around the world.

The aim of Formula Student is to provide students with hands-on experience in applying their engineering knowledge to the design and construction of a high-performance racing car. Competitors work on all aspects of the car, including design, manufacture, testing and racing. Teams are judged not only on the performance of their cars in dynamic events, but also on the design events. Judges evaluate the engineering designs, innovation, cost effectiveness and overall viability of the vehicle.

The competition encourages students to develop a range of skills beyond engineering, such as project management, teamwork, financial planning and communication, which are essential in the real world of engineering.

Electric vehicles category

Acceleration

DYNAMIC EVENT

Acceleration

Acceleration assesses the car's ability to accelerate in a straight line, starting from a complete stop, covering a distance of 75 meters.

Skid Pad

DYNAMIC EVENT

Skid Pad

Skid pad tests the car's lateral acceleration on an eight-shaped track to assess its cornering performance.

Autocross

DYNAMIC EVENT

Autocross

Autocross evaluates a car's dynamic agility. It assesses maneuverability, combining acceleration, braking, and cornering in a single event.

Endurance & Efficiency

DYNAMIC EVENT

Endurance & Efficiency

Endurance race covers a 22 km distance. Efficiency is evaluated, and the event requires consistency and reliability, balancing speed and power.

Bussines Plan

STATIC EVENT

Business Plan

Presentation to persuade potential investors about a business idea using our race car.

Cost & Manufacturing

STATIC EVENT

Cost & Manufacturing

Cost report covering materials, processes, and assembly of the car.

Engineering design

STATIC EVENT

Engineering design

Teams must demonstrate a solid understanding of the car's engineering principles.

Driverless vehicles category

Driverless Acceleration

DYNAMIC EVENT

Driverless Acceleration

Acceleration assesses the autonomous car's ability to accelerate in a straight line, starting from a complete stop, covering a distance of 75 meters.

Driverless Skid Pad

DYNAMIC EVENT

Skid Pad

Skid pad tests the autonomous car's lateral acceleration on an eight-shaped track to assess its cornering performance.

Driverless Autocross

DYNAMIC EVENT

Autocross

Autocross tests the car's self-driving capabilities, merging acceleration, braking and cornering in a single event.

Trackdrive

DYNAMIC EVENT

Trackdrive

The driverless system reliability is tested under long-term conditions by running 10 laps on a track similar to Autocross.
